Boost Your Inspiration And Wellness With National Book Lovers Day
Whether it’s the middle of summer or the dead of winter, a favorite pastime for many is cozying up with a good book. With the rise of audiobooks and ebooks, you can enjoy a book from almost anywhere – even while driving (safely of course)! But did you know that enjoying a book in whatever capacity can benefit your overall wellness and inspiration?
If you’re a writer, don’t let National Book Lovers Day pass you by! This is a great opportunity to find books for more pleasure or inspiration. You can do this by checking out social media using the hashtag #nationalbookloversday. Get to know your local book scene by checking out bookstores in your town or going to a reading by a local author. Inspire and motivate other writers by setting aside time to work on your manuscripts–like a writing buddy!
Have a book coming out soon? Or still in the process of writing your manuscript? National Book Lovers Day is a chance to get the word out about your upcoming book launch! Pique the interest of potential readers! Share your cover art, an enticing snippet of text, or reviews from readers on your platform and social media pages.
The benefits of reading are open for everyone, no matter your age or occupation. A recent university study has found that reading for pleasure can strengthen memory in older adults. And although reading for children can enhance their literacy skills, it can also help strengthen the bond between adult and child.

Could you stand to catch a few more ZZZ’s each night as you rest? Reading low stress content before bed, whether adult or child, can aid in pre-bedtime relaxation. The more relaxed you are before bed, the more likely you are to get a good night’s sleep. Just think of what your day could be like with a better night’s sleep?
This National Book Lover’s Day, August 9th 2023, take time to read something you enjoy, inspires you, or calms yourself. Just like Rome wasn’t built in a day, you don’t have to read a whole book in one day either (unless you want to)! Try reading 15 minutes a day, or even just a few pages. By enjoying reading, you’re prioritizing self-care, wellness, and even letting in some inspiration.
Now that you know about National Book Lovers Day, here are some of my favorites that you might find interesting or inspiring. Check one out or find another good read. Happy reading!
