Visual Brainstorming For Clarity
Have you ever had a concept or idea in your head but no clue how to execute it?
Or maybe you’ve had a million things to do rolling around in your head but can’t seem to pin them down.
This is where brainstorming or braindumping can help!
In a recent project meeting I noticed the participants would leave out key details. The details were assumed and understood silently but not articulated.
When it comes to drafting up charter business requirements or a proof of concept, there's no room for unspoken (or unwritten expectations). This is a recipe for disaster.
I proposed to the group that instead of trying to formalize their thoughts, to tell me what they know just as it comes to them. My blank page was filled with bullet points of thoughts and ideas.
This seemingly hodge podge of speech was actually an information goldmine. I quickly connected the dots and asked critical questions to retrieve the missing information.
All this raw and disparate data was combined with curious questions made for a clear, concise, and creatively written technical proposal.
The next time you're having trouble organizing your thoughts, visualize them on paper and try connecting them that way. You’d be surprised at the results.
