Perspective
Perspective shapes what we see and the world around us. It influences our daily lives in ways we may not have thought of. Perspective can be associated with seeing another’s point of view, being understanding, or being tolerant. You can check out more definitions of perspective but what about perspective as it pertains to you?
Is the glass half empty or half full? Both have their place but timing helps to determine which is “right” for the occasion. How do you see yourself? If you don’t think highly of yourself, you may be less likely to share your ideas with those around you. You could be sitting on gold, but those you work with or spend life with would never know it. The warped perspective is impacting yourself and the potential of those in your circle.
Perhaps you think too highly of yourself in some capacity. You may subscribe to the idea that people can just pile work on you because “you can do it”. You absolutely can, you’re great at what you do...however, the increased capacity and competing priorities may be weighing on you more than you realize.
Truthfully, we may never have a perfect perspective of ourselves. Perfect is not the aim and as one popular saying goes, perfect is the enemy of good. What is ideal is a more “right” perspective of ourselves; one that resonates with who we truly are. Today I encourage you not only to work well at what you do, but also to think of ways to shift how you see yourself. What can you do to align your current self perspective with one that resonates with the truth of who you are?
